Passing
Passing is often the first contact and is used to control the ball so the team can run an offense. Good passing requires balance, platform angle, and communication.
Setting
Setting is usually the second contact and helps place the ball in a good position for a hitter. Setters need soft hands, quick movement, and decision-making skills.
Hitting
Hitting is an attacking skill used to send the ball over the net with force or strategy. It includes an approach, jump, arm swing, and timing with the set.
Serving
Serving starts the rally. Players can use underhand or overhand serves depending on age and skill level. Accuracy and consistency are important parts of serving.
Blocking and Defense
Blocking helps stop attacks at the net, while defense helps keep the ball alive in the back court. Together, they help a team respond to the other side’s offense.
